Thromboplastin Reagent is prepared from rabbit brain tissue for use in automated, semi-automated and manual PT tests and assays for Factors II, V, VII and X. Reagent is lyophilized; reconstitute with water. Reconstituted stability is 7 days at 2-8°C. International Sensitivity Index (ISI) values are between 2.0 and 2.5.

With a mid-range ISI assignment between 1.55 and 1.85, Thromboplastin-MI provides the sensitivity for INR monitoring of stabilized anticoagulated patients, early therapy, and detection of factor deficiencies. To eliminate pipetting errors and water problems, a convenient add-a-vial diluent is included with Thromboplastin-MI kits. After reconstitution, the original activity is stable for seven (7) days at 2 to 6°C, 24 hours at room temperature, or 8 hours at 37°C.

Thromboplastin-LI is a stable liquid, ready for use. With a low ISI assignment less than 1.50, this reagent offers reliable sensitivity to liver disease, depression of Vitamin K dependent factors, and coumarin-induced coagulation, even in the presence of high-dose heparin therapy. Open reagent is stable 14 days at 2-8°C.

The Fibrinogen Assay kit is for automated, semi-automated and manual quantitation of fibrinogen in plasma. The kit uses a relatively high working concentration of thrombin (100 NIH units/mL) and low fibrinogen concentration to minimize effects of heparin and FDPs. Reagents and calibrator are also available as individual items.

Helena's TCT assay uses a low concentration of thrombin (3 NIH units/mL) with undiluted plasma. It is sensitive to fibrinogen levels below 70 mg/dL. The reagent is ideal for automated, semi-automated and manual instruments.
